Year 6 is a very important time in a child’s school life both in terms of transition into high school and academic attainment.  We aim to ensure that each child is fully prepared emotionally, socially and academically for life in their chosen secondary school.

We aim for each child to reach his or her full potential in all aspects of the curriculum, therefore enabling them to become independent, hard working, responsible and social young adults.

We aim to prepare each child for their transition into high school through independent research, extra roles and responsibilities.  Academically work will become more challenging as we encourage each child to have high aspirations for their future life.  Children will be asked to do independent research both at school and home to support their learning, prepare them for high school, create interest in their work as well as raising the achievement of all pupils.

Year 6 monitors

Our monitors are responsible for assembly organisation, lunch box arrangements and daily routines in school.  In addition to this they are superb helpers on Open Evenings.

Head Boy and Girl

Each year a Head Boy and Head Girl are chosen from Year 6 pupils.  Year 6 are invited to apply for this position and to assist with the selection process.  Children in other year groups are also invited to vote for their choice of Head Boy and Head Girl.

Play Leaders

Year 6 pupils apply for the opportunity to teach and play alongside other pupils in school.  The Play Leaders are proving to be a fantastic asset to lunchtime play and helping create an amazing atmosphere on the playground.

Eco Warriors

Year 6 also have their own Eco-Warriors with the responsibility to assist in the schools Eco Friendly practices such as recycling paper.

School Council

Each Year 6 class also has 2 School Council representatives who liaise between Year 6 pupils and the school council on important matters effecting the running of the school.  It is an important tool in giving children a voice on the running of their school.

We are really looking forward to this being an amazing year.
